Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RGIT), Mumbai was established in 1992. It is affiliated to University of Mumbai and by All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.), New Delhi. The institute has been awarded “A” grade by the Govt. of Maharashtra. This college is one of the ISO 9001:2000 Certified premier educational institutions, established under Manjara Charitable Trust. The main aim of the college is to provide high quality engineering and management education in Mumbai.
The institute was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in the memory of the great son of land, Shri Rajiv Gandhi in the year 1998. The Institute is committed to impart quality education by ensuring practical, innovative, technology-driven delivery of the programmes and creating outstanding managers and technocrats who make valuable contributions to the global business and society to suit their ever changing needs.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology was shifted to the permanent campus at Survey No.161 & CTS No.1376/1/48, Juhu-Versova Link Road. It is built on more than 5 acres of land covering 16500 sq m of actual built up area alongside the green and luxurious Versova beach.
