UGC NET 2018 opens a window for application correction

To make any corrections in UGC NET 2018 application form, UGC has opened the window for the candidates. The official website — – can be visited by the candidates who wished to do so and make the necessary changes (if any). October 14, 2018, is the last date for the window to close.

Across various test centres in 91 selected cities, UGC NET 2018 exam is scheduled from December 9 to 23, 2018 and will be held in 84 different subjects. Only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or both, the exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of the candidate Assistant Professor post. For the exam, the admit cards will be available to download from November 19 and the results for the same will be released on January 10, 2019.

New exam pattern for the UGC NET 2018

By the NTA (National testing Agency), From 2018 onward, the exam will be conducted and in place of three papers, only 2 papers — paper 1 and paper 2 — will be conducted.

Paper 1

50 objective type questions will be contained in Paper 1 and will be of 100 marks. Each question will be general in nature (related to teaching/research aptitude of the candidate) and will carry 2 marks. One hour will be the total duration of the same (9:30 am to 10:30 am)

Paper 2

100 objective type compulsory questions will be contained in Paper 2 and will be of 100 marks. 2 marks will be carried by each question and will be based on the subject opted by the candidate. Two hours will be the duration of the same (11 am to 1 pm).

Eligibility Criteria

For recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions, NET/SET/SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition. In this regard, in the Gazette of India from time to time, exemption from NET/SET/SLET will be governed by UGC regulations and amendments notified ii) The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET. iii) For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India., The qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards.
