All Distance Education Program of Anna University gets UGC Approval

The Anna University’s All Distance Education Program gets approval from the University Grants Commission, the highest body for higher education in India. Since 2007, the Centre for Distance Education (CDE) of Anna University has been offering distance education programs in MBA, MCA and M.Sc. (Computer Science). What is more, the MBA Program is offered with specialisations in General Management, Marketing and a few other streams.

Thanks to the new regulations, the UGC (Open and Distance Learning) Regulations, 2017 and subsequent amendments in 2018 were brought in with the aim of regulating the conduct of distance learning programs by various universities in India. According to a press statement issued by AU, the varsity, with a NAAC score of 3.46 has fulfilled all the requirements mandated by the UGC in its regulations. In this regard, the notification approving all three programs, MBA, MCA and M.Sc., conducted by CDE for a period of five years (2013 to 2023) was issued by the UGC on October 3, 2018. Admissions to these programs for the academic year 2018-19 had begun on October 3, added the report.

The statement issued by the AU said, The UGC has accorded approval for all the three programs offered by the CDE, AU as per the notification of UGC dated October 3, 2018. Its jurisdiction extends to the entire state of Tamil Nadu except for Annamalai Nagar. What is more, its study centres operate at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Nagercoil and Viluppuram. Admissions for all the three programs have commenced from October 3. Students are requested to apply online or obtain and submit the applications at the office of the CDE, Anna University, Chennai. The Applications should be enclosed with a DD for Rs.650 drawn in favour of “The Director, Centre for Distance Education, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025.” The last date for submission of applications is 12.10.2018. The Entrance Test (DEET) will be conducted on 14.10.2018 and students will be called for Counselling and Admission on 20.10.2018 (Saturday). The CDE will work on all days (including Saturdays and Sundays) from 9.00 am to 6.45 pm.

Important Dates

Entrance test for MBA and MCA is on October 14, 2018, Sunday from 10.00 AM to 12.00 PM. The last date for registration and submission of application is October 12, 2018. The counselling will start on October 20, 2018.

Online Application

Applicants can also apply through the website, cde.annauniv.edu. In such cases, applications should be enclosed with a DD of Rs.650 payable at Chennai, along with the filled application form. The DD should be drawn in favour of The Director, Centre for Distance Education, Anna University.

MBA Programs

The MBA Program is offered with specialisations such as General Management, Technology Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Services Management, Health Services Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management and Operations Management.

MCA Programs

The MCA Program is offered at the CDE, Anna University, Chennai and Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Chennai.

Eligibility

MBA

The eligibility is any Degree and clearance in the Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET)/TANCET 2018 conducted by Anna University. Any degree with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level or any degree with Mathematics as one of the subject at Higher Secondary Level and clearance in the DEET/TANCET 2018 conducted by AU.

MCA

Any degree with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level or any degree with Mathematics as one of the subject at Higher Secondary Level and clearance in the DEET/TANCET 2018 conducted by the AU. The Bachelor Degree must have been obtained through the 10+2+3 pattern.

M.Sc. (Computer Science)

Any degree with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level or any degree with Mathematics as one of the subject at Higher Secondary Level or any degree with Mathematics as one of the subject at Higher Secondary Level.
