Anna University to hold separate entrance test for MBA Programs
The Anna University will now be holding a separate entrance test for the MBA program which earlier relied on Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for admission to PG courses, as per India Today report. As per the official report, students who aspire to pursue MBA programs will have to appear for AUCET 2019 examination noted the report. The University released the news after the decision was taken followed by issuing a fresh order on April 29, 2019, changing the co-ordination committee for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
As per the new order, the director of technical education will just be a member instead of a co-chairman and Anna University Vice-Chancellor will be the chairman for the committee. Yesterday, the university announced that students willing to appear for the MBA course will have to appear for a separate entrance test i.e. AUCET. AUCET is also known as Anna University Common Entrance Test, which is a university level MBA entrance exam and a gateway to departments, regional colleges of Anna University.
Date and admission process
After this announcement, the date for the MBA entrance examination was also released. AUCET 2019 will be held on June 22. Interested and eligible candidates can get registered for MBA admission into Anna University from May 6, 2019, onwards. The application process is being conducted in online mode only, as the university has scrapped offline application procedure for registrations. The deadline for the same is May 25, 2019. Candidates should visit the official website of Anna University to fill the application form for the MBA course.
- Candidates appearing for AUCET 2019 must hold Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration and at least 50% overall percentage at the graduate level. Candidates appearing in the final year of the graduation course are also eligible to appear for AUCET MBA entrance examination
Anna University is a state technical university in Tamil Nadu, India. The main campus is in Guindy, Chennai and the satellite campus is in Chromepet, Chennai. It was established on September 4, 1978. It is ranked the tenth institution in India overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework, ranked fourth among universities and ranked eighth in engineering. The main campus houses the College of Engineering, Guindy; Alagappa College of Technology, School of Architecture and Planning, and three technical departments of the University of Madras. The Madras Institute of Technology is located in the Chromepet campus.
The university offers courses in engineering and technology through its affiliated colleges and follows a dual semester system. Every year the university conducts examinations for even semester in May–June and for an odd semester in November–December. The first semester students have exams in January.
