Final Result of Combined Defence Services Examination II declared

The final result of Combined Defence Services, CDS (II) has been declared, according to NDTV report. On the basis of the written examination held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the subsequent interviews conducted by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence, a total of 100 candidates have qualified the CDS (II) 2018 examination, noted the report. The merit list is uploaded on the official website of UPSC.

Merit List

Abhishek Raj has topped the Indian Military Academy and Indian Naval Academy’s merit list, while Anurag Singh and five others have made it to the list of selected candidates for Air Force Academy. What is more, 4,729 candidates had qualified for the interview round, added the report.

The “Combined Defence Services” (CDS) Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the examination. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

The Commission had announced a total of 177 vacancies in Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Kerala and Air Force Academy, Hyderabad. Selected candidates are eligible for admission to the 147th (DE) Course of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun; Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala and Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course– No. 206 F (P) Course.

Functions of UPSC

  • Conduct examinations for appointment to the services of the Union
  • Direct recruitment by selection through interviews
  • Appointment of officers on promotion / deputation / absorption
  • Framing and amendment of Recruitment Rules for various services and posts under the Government
  • Disciplinary cases relating to different Civil Services
  • Advising the Government on any matter referred to the Commission by the President of India
